Retreat 2024

The 2024 retreat will take place

June 17th – 21st

at Camp Medomak Retreat Center in Washington, Maine

“People have been healing each other since the beginning.  Long before there were surgeons, psychologists, oncologists, and internists, we were there for each other … After all these years I have begun to wonder if the secret of living well is not in having all the answers but in pursuing unanswerable questions in good company.”  Rachel Naomi Remen, M.D.

The 2024 applications open April 1, 2024

Who is the Retreat for?

The retreat is for women living in New England who are currently undergoing or who have completed treatment for ovarian cancer.

What are the facilities like?

Medomak Retreat Center in Washington, Maine is tucked within a cool pine forest and sits just above a pristine lake shoreline.  Visitors stay in simple, New England style 2-person cabins which include a private bathroom, shower, electricity, comfortable twin beds, a writing desk and outdoor Adirondack chairs to enjoy the warm days.  The main building hosts a large dining hall, four smaller breakout rooms, and a covered porch that can accommodate 20+ people.  Other meeting places include a newly renovated, open-concept barn and other outdoor spaces. While at Medomak guests can enjoy hiking the on-property trails or exploring the quiet lake by canoe, kayak, or paddleboard. The cooling waters, located a 3-5 minute walk from the cabins, are a joy to swim in, paddle through, or simply observe from the docks with a good book.

What do participants do at the retreat?

The retreat combines recreation and relaxation through a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, art projects, entertainment, and free time. There are a variety of activities to choose from each day and may include light hiking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, creative projects, yoga, massages, facials, dancing and singing. Participants are encouraged to take part in as many of these as they are up to—and everything at the retreat is optional. Participants are free to rest in their rooms or chat with new friends anytime. A licensed social worker is present and available for private and group discussions.

What food is provided?

All meals are included, and participants are encouraged to eat together in a family atmosphere. Additional beverages and snacks are available throughout the day. All the food offered at the retreat is plentiful, nutritious, and diet-responsive to the extent possible, with an emphasis on organic and locally-sourced produce. Please note specific dietary needs on the application form.

Medical Needs

Attendees must be able to care for their own medical needs while at the retreat. A nurse is available for minor first aid and supportive consultation if emergency assistance is required.  Please return the completed medical information form with your application.

  • This has been one of the most memorable experiences of my life… I am brought to tears of joy when I think of my experiences… I feel truly blessed to be a part of this special community.
  • It was beyond my wildest dreams in so many ways. I didn't realize how much I needed to be taken care of until I was by everyone at TTT. I felt so welcomed and a part of the group.
  • I have learned so many things about myself. I experienced new things such as the ropes course and rock wall climbing. These activities have shown me about what trust feels like when people 'have my back.'
  • Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Seeing all of these incredible women who have recurred or are in treatment took away some of my fear. My life's forever changed by this group.
  • The retreat is amazing. I wish everyone with a diagnosis like ovarian cancer had a group like this to come to and be with.
  • Thank you for providing this safe, supportive, educational, fun, and inspirational space for women going through so much.
  • I am so appreciative of just how restorative the retreat is for me. Attending makes living with ovarian cancer easier.
  • So glad I found you and was able to participate and make new friends.
  • I am particularly introverted and shy away from large group gatherings but I found this group of women to all be welcoming.
  • TTT is a Godsend opportunity of love, caring, and sisterhood for survivors of ovarian cancer.
  • I am now a part of a community of wise and compassionate women.
  • I love TTT. I am so glad to be a member. You all have added immeasurably to my life. I truly feel a part of this tribe!
  • I got an injection of courage! I feel like the cowardly lion who had courage but did not know it. You all made me see I can do this.
  • I am so grateful for the gift of the TTT sisterhood!
  • Having a safe space to be "real" and being surrounded by so many strong women was incredible!
  • This retreat was such a safe space where I felt it was OK to cry (a lot!) The freedom to feel (and share) my feelings was so therapeutic.
  • The attention to detail and the considerable thought that goes into the detail, planning, and execution is astounding!
  • There is so much love involved that sometimes it is overwhelming in a very good way.
  • I just find the TTT retreat so nurturing to my soul. I feel pampered and stress free.
  • My life is profoundly changed for the better. I have never met such a caring, loving, dedicated group of women who are giving it their ALL for the benefit of others.
  • I anticipated that the retreat would provide a respite from the day-to-day hardships of ovarian cancer. What I found was a community of courageous and understanding women whose extraordinary support of each other continues throughout the year.
